Functional description Encodes AtNek5, a member of the NIMA-related serine/threonine kinases (Neks) that have been linked to cell-cycle regulation in fungi and mammals. Plant Neks might be involved in plant development processes.Interacts physically with plant kinesins ARK1 and ARK2. Mutants show defects in root epidermal cell morphology, trichome branching and other epidermal cell abnormalities suggesting a rol e in epidermal cell differentiation. NEK6 co-localizes with cortical microtubules.
