Functional description Encodes a ubiquitin-activating enzyme (E1), involved in the first step in conjugating multiple ubiquitins to proteins targeted for degradation. Gene is expressed in most tissues examined. Mutant is able to revert the constitutive defense responses phenotype of snc1, which indicates the gene is involved in defense response. It also indicates that ubiquitination plays a role in plant defense signalling.
