Functional description Encodes a member of the Squamosa Binding Protein family of transcriptional regulators. SPL7 is expressed highly in roots and appears to play a role in copper homeostasis. Mutants are hypersensitive to copper deficient conditions and display a retarded growth phenotype. SPL7 binds to the promoter of the copper responsive miRNAs miR398b and miR389c.
